About Us

Dharmata House

Dharmata House is a bit of a curious name but it seems to fit quite well. Yes it is a house, a garden bungalow shaded by our beloved Bodhi tree. But it is also our Dharma Centre and a breathing space.

Situated at the end of the road yet for many it's the start of a journey. A path to nowhere in particular, helping all who enjoys its embrace, its silence and its breeze...to turn inward instead to a more restful stillness within oneself.

Rough and rugged, Dharmata House is now a warm sanctuary for our sangha. We come together every Saturday to practise, meditate, laugh and learn from our beloved Spiritual Director, Anam Thubten Rinpoche, the founder of Dharmata Foundation, USA.

Organic Practice

Our Sangha is our spiritual family. Whenever there is the opportunity we gather for coffee or dinner. Sometimes it is  for day excursions, holistic workshops or short retreats. Or to pray for, chant and sit meditation for family or friends who need blessings and our collective energies. This casual bonding offers space to share deeply our true self and feelings.

Our Spiritual Guide

Anam Thubten grew up in Tibet and at an early age began to practice in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Among his many teachers, his most formative guides were Lama Tsurlo, Khenpo Chopel, and Lama Garwang.

He is the founder and spiritual advisor of Dharmata Foundation, teaching widely in the U.S. and abroad. He is also the author of various articles and books in both the Tibetan and English language. His books in English include The Magic of Awareness and No Self, No Problem.

”In Buddhism, the path to enlightenment is called Dharma. Dharma is not conventional religion based on belief systems. It is a way to live life without being bound to the chains of hope and fear, as well as to see everything is already here in each moment. Nirvana, happiness, freedom, and Buddhahood are all here.   People are invited to let go of all their concepts, to surrender to the present moment so they can feel that sacredness of life and utter joy.“ -- Anam Thubten
